Introducing the 2023-2024 School Board Student Representatives

Introducing the 2023-2024 School Board Student Representatives

Young leaders at Williamsport Area High School are selected each year to serve as school board student representatives.

This year’s student representatives, seniors Cyn-sere Coney, Faye Moore and Muireann Tran, are active in their school community, playing roles in everything from National Art Honor Society to clubs, improv troupes and more.
In their role as representatives, the three will provide regular updates to the school board at each meeting throughout the 2023-2024 school year about what is happening “on the hill,” spotlighting news in the areas of athletics, academics, events and student life.

Coney, who has taken on the role as this year’s Mr. Millionaire, is a member of the school’s newly organized Hope Squad, a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program. In addition, he is a member of the competitive cheerleading team and involved with the upcoming student-produced Make-a-Wish charity concert. After high school, he plans to serve in the U.S. Air Force and then attend and cheer for Louisiana State University while studying physical therapy.

Moore is a member of the school’s improv troupe, “Without a Cue,” and serves as vice president of the Drama Club. She’s recently been cast in the upcoming drama production, “A Simpler Time.” Musically, she’s a member of the high school’s female musical ensemble Les Chanteuse. Like Coney, she is participating in the upcoming Make-a-Wish charity concert. After high school, she plans to attend college with an aspiration to become a teacher.

A National Art Honor Society inductee, Tran carries a course load that includes AP European History, AP Calculus II, AP Physics and AP 2D Art Study. She’s also a member of “Without a Cue.” Like her other fellow student representatives, she, too, is involved in the upcoming Make-a-Wish charity concert. She plans to attend a liberal arts college somewhere along the East Coast and is undecided on her major at this point.

The three provided their first presentation to the school board during the Oct. 10 meeting, during which they gave a recap on what’s been happening over the last several weeks of school and upcoming events.
