A God bless and heartfelt thank you to all our Veterans. Every freedom we enjoy has been provided by the grace of God and the servicemen and women of the United States Armed Forces. There is a price for freedom that way too many inhabiters of our great land do not understand. It requires constant commitment and effort each and every day by the American soldier! Those that have provided this service and moved on in life’s journey are respectfully called Veterans. Many face physical and mental challenges long after their last day of service to our country.
On Veterans Day, we need to take the time to thank these true American Heroes that have served the United States of America and now live amongst us. It is our privilege at Webb Weekly to team up with Coach Ron Insinger, wife Carol, and his family to provide a special thank you. His great staff at Dolly’s Diners’ three locations will be serving up a free All-American Breakfast to all Veterans.
Breakfast will be served from open until noon on Veterans Day, Friday Nov. 11th. If there is a Veteran in your life that may need a helping hand in attending, please make the time. Hunters Searching for Tanks
One of these freedoms is to get out into Penn’s Woods and enjoy hunting with the weapon of your choice. It’s good to hear that our Webb Weekly Uncle Ron’s Monster Buck Contest is heating up. Congrats to my nephew, Jed, for harvesting his first buck with his compound bow — a nice 8-point. It’s hard to believe this will be the 15th year we are having the contest. The contest is named in honor of two Uncle Rons. My Uncle Ron Maietta, a lifetime outdoorsman who battled through multiple sclerosis to enjoy hunting, fishing, and all that is great on God’s green earth until his passing. And retired Webb Weekly family member, Ron Mingle. Ron has overseen the Monster Buck Contest since its beginning and continues to do so with his daughter. Alys took over his spot on our Webb Weekly sales staff a few years back. The Mingle family is all too familiar with MS, as Ron’s wife Stephanie deals with the affliction. Ron’s daughters Andra and Alys have organized a family effort to fight and educate folks about the disease. So, before I get to the details of Uncle Ron’s Monster Buck Contest, let me remind you that for every buck entered, Webb Weekly makes a donation to battle MS. Thank you to all the hunters that entered the contest last year, together we raised $1,414. Every buck is a trophy to the hunter that harvested it and to us at Webb Weekly. So as long as it’s a legal Pennsylvania Whitetail, you may enter the contest. So, here’s a quick overview of how. After you harvest that trophy buck, all you need to do is have the antlers rough measured at either Poust Taxidermy, up Route 44, or Sauers Trading in Southside. If your buck qualifies for the final round, it will be officially scored using Sierra Club International standards. Not only does every buck entered help the fight against MS, but it also enters the hunter into the random drawing for a Savage Axis rifle and all the trimmings courtesy of Jon and Don Sauers, the father-son duo at Sauers Trading. The grand prize to the winner of the contest is a full shoulder mount courtesy of Dana and Sam at Poust Taxidermy. Their outstanding work makes it look
like the rest of the deer is hiding on the outside of the wall. The good people at Stoltzfus Butcher in
Mill Hall provide second through fourth place prizes. They’ll make your venison taste good to the last bite with a $100 gift card toward the processing. Complete Monster Buck details can be found on
