Rowing the Boat

Rowing the Boat

We have several local products that are doing their thing. I have a great relationship with many of these athletes, but I simply wanted to show one some major love. Lycoming County produces some great footballers, and this kid was off the charts. He is now playing at a very high level, and I enjoy seeing him shine.

Treyson Potts has been on fire. The former Williamsport Millionaire is finally getting an opportunity, and he is turning some heads. Potts is a redshirt sophomore for the Minnesota Golden Gophers of the BIG10. He saw very limited action as a freshman. But Treyson was all over the field in the opener against Ohio State. He had 34 yards on ten carries and had several nice kick returns. The Gophers lost their starting tailback in that game to an injury, and Treyson has shined ever since. In his first career start, Potts ran the ball 34 times for 178 yards and two touchdowns against Miami. He then gained 121 yards on 26 carries and three touchdowns at Colorado.

Treyson was just incredible when he played on the hill. The statistics were insane. He reminded me of a Bo Jackson on Nintendo Super Tecmo. Potts totaled 3,490 yards and 59 touchdowns in 31 games for Williamsport. He would have shattered all of the records if it weren’t for a few injuries. Treyson missed several chances in his junior and senior years because of a bum knee. Man. He was special. The knees were a major concern. But Treyson kept working hard. He wanted to prove that he was still a beast. Minnesota stuck with him and now is seeing some successes. Kudos.

Many of you have accused me of jumping on the wagon. Stop it. I have been rowing the boat with the Gophers since my beginning. My family and I have deep roots in the great state of Minnesota. I spent my first five years in the land of 10,000 lakes. Moms was raised in Pipestone, where I was born, and Pops grew up in the Twin Cities. We still have tons of relations who currently reside. I even reach out to my cousins every other game just to tell them I am friends with the new starting tailback.

Treyson Potts from Williamsport is now steering the ship. He overcame a serious knee injury and deserves some major love. I reached out to my old friend from the East End to give him props. I only wanted to congratulate him on all the yardage. Treyson replied with a sincere emoji thumbs up. Bravo #3. Go Gophers. Cheers.
