George Ray Yost, Sr., 78

George Ray Yost, Sr., 78, of 66 Yost Road, Mill Hall passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Mill Hall on March 30, 1939, the son of the late George A. Yost and Elva “Rusty” Keen Dewalt.

George attended the former Sugar Run School House, Mill Hall.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Meredith.
On June 6, 1959 he married the former Sandra Jane Peddigree, whom survives.
George was employed by Widman’s Drug Store as an electrician before working at International Paper, retiring after many years of service as a Yard Foreman.

He was a member of the Lock Haven First Church of Christ.

George enjoyed spending time outdoors on his property. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed camping and riding his ATV’s, especially taking his grandchildren on rides. He was a very handy man and was always happy to help anyone in need. He also enjoyed playing cards. Most of all, George loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and always strived to make his wife’s life as best and happy as possible.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Florence (John) Kennedy of Lock Haven, Robin Yost and Shelly (Ronald) Horner, both of Bellefonte and George “Chip” (Kristy) Yost, Jr. of Mill Hall; two sisters, Linda Bubb of Williamsport and Betty (Fred) English of McElhattan; a very close family friend, Margaret Dolan of Blanchard; his dog and best buddy, Jada; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randall A. Yost; and a grandson, Joshua J. Condo.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Wounded Warrior Project.
