“Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.” Wow, what powerful words! Most probably recognize this from being recited or sung just after communion. This depends on which local church and religion you choose. It is my understanding that it is known as the Memorial Acclamation.

As most are observing Holy Week and the Celebration of Easter, please give some extra thought to the meaning of the words being spoken or sung. It is human nature to get stuck in our normal routine and put it in cruise control. You often muddle through the repetition without much thought. With all that is going on in the abnormal world of today, we need to focus on and understand what’s most important.

To me, Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again seems like the perfect battle cry to conquer whatever you are facing. The greatest weapon of the enemy is often fear. If you accept and believe in these words, you can eliminate that fear factor. By fear, I am referring to (F)alse (E)vidence (A)gainst (R)eality, which always teams up with worry in the constant battle of good versus evil.

Happy Easter to you and your family. Make sure to share the special meaning of the day with the young ones. Many local churches are having their Easter services live-streamed for viewing on the device of your choice. If you’re not partaking in this, have your own Easter celebration at home. Hopefully, it’s a beautiful sun-drenched day. You can take the family outside to pray together and discuss the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Thank you to everyone who reached out to me this past week about my April Fool’s Day story, “Who Would Have Thunk It.” It was written in good fun, but most of all, to help us all take a break from our current reality. The story was more about some great happenings I wish were going on, not trying to fool anybody. However, there were a lot of folks that believed it hook, line, and sinker right up to the big fish story at the end.

It is true Helmrich’s Seafood is doing takeout orders. They’re just not serving any shark filets from the Susquehanna. Please continue to support all our local restaurants and eateries through this difficult time.

While we are on the topic of supporting local business folks, this week’s Webb Weekly is chalk full of great home improvement ideas. Some you might be available to take advantage of right now; some may have to wait. The list of who can and who can’t provide services seems to change every day.

No matter what is needed around your house, please buy and contract local and support those that make a living the old-fashioned way, with their hands and hard work. From flowers to furnaces, painting to pools, carpet to complete construction, our area is blessed with great folks that want to do a great job for you!

One thing we are all learning through this crisis is the importance of having things to do right at home. As you’re thinking about your next home improvement project, maybe it’s time to think recreation and relaxation; we all could use a little of both right now.

Maybe it’s a little paving or concrete for a basketball hoop or an area for the kiddos to play. There’s always the option for a new pool, which can double as a great way to give the dogs a bath. How about clearing or reclaiming some of your land that may be overgrown? That’s a great way to have a place to play catch, plant a garden, or put that pool.

As for interior living space, maybe adding a sunroom will brighten your day. The conversion of unused space to a family game room is always a great idea. Next on my list is getting rid of the old tub with a walk-in shower. With all of us eating more meals at home, maybe it’s revealed the necessity for a kitchen makeover. This can definitely be a stress reliever, especially for the cook. And there’s always that idea about a workout room complete with bar and 95” HDTV. The choice is yours.

When it comes to finding reliable people, I am a member and a big believer in the West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association. They do a great job and are committed to our local communities. The organization is dedicated to ensuring the highest standard of service and conduct amongst its members as possible.

With the cancellation of this year’s annual Home Show, our area missed out on the meet and greet of all that is home improvement. Many of these businesses can be found within this week’s paper. I will be doing something in the near future when the coast is clear to help promote the WBSBA. Remember, your home improvement is only as good as the person you hire or buy from!
