William Richard “Dick” Young, 85

William Richard “Dick” Young, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2023 at Nippenose Valley Village in Oval, Pennsylvania. He was born on April 30, 1938, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to the late E. Clair and Esther (Steppy) Young.

Dick dedicated his career to serving his country as an Administrative Superintendent for the United States Air Force. His exceptional skills and dedication earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues.

Outside of work, Dick was proud of his basketball career at St. Joseph’s High School; had a profound love for golfing, basketball, Penn State Football, and the thrill of casinos. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to unwind from the demands of everyday life.

Dick bravely served during the Vietnam War, and his service to his country will always be remembered and appreciated. It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a true patriot.

He is preceded in death by his parents, E. Clair and Esther Young, as well as his brothers, Stanley Daley and Robert Young. He is survived by his sister, Eileen (Young) Rothenberger, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and friends.

A Memorial Mass to honor and celebrate Dick’s life will be held on November 17, 2023, at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 6001 Jacks Hollow Road, Williamsport (Bastress), PA 17702. Interment will immediately follow the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home.

During this difficult time, may we find solace in our cherished memories of Dick and extend our heartfelt condolences to all those who knew and loved him and whose live’s he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
