William D. Cowles, 72, of Cogan Station, passed away at Rose View Center on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
He was born in Troy on December 11, 1946. a son of Henry W. & Fannie E. (Barnes) Cowles.
Bill enlisted in the Marine Corps on May 27, 1966 and served with Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Division and was discharge as a Lance Corporal on Feb. 9, 1972 He continued his support of the Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corps League where he had served as a past Commandant.
He had been employed as a truck driver for the former Moores Building Supplies for many years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, working in the garden, tinkering around the house and working on cars.
Surviving are his daughter Fran Hort of Williamsport, grandchildren; Michael and Maria, five great grandchildren, six siblings; Bonnie Lutz (Harold) of Williamsport, Mary V. Williams(Randy Andrews) of Hughesville, Henry Cowles of Roaring Branch, Gary Cowles (Deanna) of Cogan Station, Jeffrey Cowles (Brenda) of Cogan Station, Nick Cowles (Donna) of Cogan Station and many nieces and nephews.
A private family visitation was held, funeral and burial in a National Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
