William D. “Bill” White, 81, of Canton, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, in Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on March 11, 1944, in Jersey Shore, he was a son of the late Thomas W. White and Gladys M. (Roupp) White.
Bill was a man of integrity and hard work. He spent his formative years in the town of his birth, and later graduated from Wellsboro Area High School. Bill enjoyed working with his hands, and his skill set led him to a career at BTR Trucking Inc. in Milton, PA. Known for his problem-solving abilities, he proudly served as a Certified Mechanic until his well-deserved retirement. Bill enjoyed watching WWE and Westerns on television, reading, and an occasional fishing trip.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Patricia L. (Dowling) White; son, Hank W. White (Kathy); daughter, Debra Meyers; step-sons, Dennis K. Kepler (Bernadette Hivish), and Brian L. Kepler (Margo); step-daughter, Bonnie M. Esposito (James); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and his two cats, Peppy and Elvira.
Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his only sibling, Larry E. White.
A graveside service to honor Bill will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, January, 7, 2026, in the Jersey Shore Cemetery chapel, 1103 Locust St., Jersey Shore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s honor to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
