Vernon G. Bair, 92

Vernon G. Bair, 92, passed away Wednesday February 19, 2025, at the UPMC Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital. Vern was a lifelong resident of the Williamsport area and a son of the late Clyde Donald and Marjorie Lenore (Bendle) Bair. He is survived by his son, Timothy Bair (Donna) and daughters Bonnie Bair, Halle Niklaus (James) and Julie Jackson (Terry). Vern hales from a large family of eight boys and was greatly blessed with nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. In his later years, he enjoyed meals with his friends and games with family.

Vern graduated from the Williamsport H.S. in 1951 and enlisted in the Air Force, serving in the Korean War, the Vietnam War and throughout the Cold War. He was proud of his 34 years of dedicated service and his association with the Air National Guard’s 193 Wing out of Middletown, PA. His avocation was all things aviation. He earned a commercial pilot license and was most proud of flying Santa Claus into Montoursville for the annual Christmas parade, and his role in finding two lost children from the air. Vern also owned a landscaping business as well as a flag car service company. In his spare time, he was a member of the Jaycees, the Masons, and was a genealogy enthusiast.

A viewing will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. Funeral services to honor Vernon will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at Sanders Mortuary with Rev. Mark Brumbach officiating. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport with Military Honors provided by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Vernon’s name may be made to the Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701, c/o The Gatehouse and the We Honor Veterans Program, and/or, c/o Susquehanna Home Care and Hospice, the family would like to thank both organizations for their care and comfort during Vernon’s final days.
