Velma M. Winner, 88

Velma M. Winner, 88, of Lock Haven, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2020 after a long struggle of failing health.

She was born August 13, 1931 in Lock Haven, the daughter of the late Robert and Mabel Alice Bilby Croak.

Velma married the love of her life, Richard Winner, on August 16, 1949, after he returned from serving in the military. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on August 17, 2019 and resided most of their married lives in Croak Hollow where they raised three children together.

After 13 years of service, Velma retired from Keystone Central School District as a teacher’s aide in 1983. She had also worked at Woolrich Woolen Mills and Coblers’ Cafeteria.

Velma was a member of Hillview Wesleyan Church, Lock Haven for more than 60 years and served as a Sunday school teacher for 16 of those years.

Throughout her life she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, camping and traveling. Beyond all, she cherished her family gatherings.

In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by a son, Steven (Penny) Winner of Etters; two daughters, Chris (William) Adams and Carol (John) Colucci, both of Lock Haven; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 1 P.M. at the Hillview Wesleyan Church, 1200 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven, PA 17745 with Rev. Kenneth Lynn officiating. Burial services will follow at Swissdale Cemetery, Lock Haven.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Friday from 12 P.M. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Hillview Wesleyan Church.
