Shirley Ann Bausinger, 88

Shirley Ann Bausinger, 88, of Williamsport passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024 at home.

Born April 18, 1936, in Williamsport she was a daughter of the late, Walt and Ann (Snyder) Whitman.

Shirley’s journey began in a home where she embraced the role of a wife and mother with grace and dedication, creating a warm and welcoming space for all who entered. Known as Nana not only to her own grandchildren but to all who had the privilege of knowing her, Shirley’s capacity to love was boundless.

Shirley’s interests were a reflection of her love for people and her zest for life. She was a member of the Harmonia Club and a familiar face at local clubs and churches, where she delighted in the camaraderie and excitement of playing bingo.

Family was the cornerstone of Shirley’s world. She found immense joy in attending her grandchildren’s events. Her presence was a source of encouragement, and her pride in their achievements was evident to all.

Those who knew Shirley will remember her as the sweetest woman they had ever met. She embodied the essence of loving kindness, and her gentle demeanor was a comfort to everyone she encountered. Shirley’s life was a beautiful example of how to love without reservation and to make every person feel like they were the most important in the world.

Surviving are her five children, Gary W. Bausinger (Sewellen) of Berwick, Thomas E. Bausinger of Walstonburg, NC, Michael J. Bausinger (Gay) of Williamsport, Scott A. Bausinger (Carol) of Gilbert, SC, and Michelle L. Rothrock (Thomas) of Hughesville; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and two sisters, Joyce Palmatier of Williamsport and Marie Cousins (Robert) of Shrub Oak, NY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Wayne Edward Bausinger; and a daughter-in-law, Terry Bausinger.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held 7 p.m. Friday, July 26, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street Williamsport. The family will receive friends form 6 p.m. until the time of service Friday at Sanders.
