Sheldon G. Thompson, 79, of Cascade Township, died on May 19, 2021, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport.
He was born on April 10, 1942 in Ogdensburg, son of the late Clifford and Mildred (Campbell) Thompson.
Sheldon was a SGT 1st Class for the United States Army and retired after 20 years of service, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, worked at the former Stroehmann’s Bakery, enjoyed fishing, playing banjo, especially at nursing homes and was a very faithful Christian.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Thompson.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Sandra L. Holdren; three sons, Carl L. (April) Thompson, of Williamsport, Scott D. (Julianna) Thompson, of Elizabethtown, and Shane A. (Heather) Thompson, of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Julie A. (Larry) Meeker, of Covington, and Faye Lynn (Robert) Given, of Cypress, TX.; three sisters, Gloria M. Hall, of Mason, MI., Laura D. Holdren, of Trout Run, and Mildred A. Campbell, of Barbours; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
