Ruth L. Bennett, 86, of Montgomery, died Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born August 13, 1933 in Watsontown, she was a daughter of the late William Frances Brady and Eva (Zarr) Marshall. She and her husband, Marlon L. Bennett Sr., would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on April 19, 2020.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed family gatherings and visiting Knoebels Grove amusement park. She also enjoyed the outdoors, sitting on her porch, watching cooking shows, and above all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Charlotte A. (Michael) Murphy of Allenwood; three sons: Ken G. (Mary) Bennett, Ralph E. Bennett, and Marlon L. Bennett Jr., all of Montgomery; a sister, Dorothy Lentz of Austin, PA; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a granddaughter, an infant great-grandson, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 30, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water Street, Hughesville, with Pastor Doug W. Mellott officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran “Brick Church” Cemetery, Montgomery. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
