Robert Alvin Kahley, 83, of Montgomery, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, January 5, 2020. Surviving is his loving wife of 19 years, Norine Kahley.
Born October 17, 1936 in Lewistown he was a son of the late Alvin and Irene (Lister) Kahley.
Robert was a 1954 graduate of Lewistown High School and also earned a degree in carpentry from Williamsport Technical Institute. He served his country proudly in the US Navy from 1955-1958 stationed on the USS Macon (CA -132) and then again from 1958-1963 in the Navy reserves. Bob was always proud of his military service, staying involved in various Veterans associations and supporting his country throughout his life.
Robert was employed by the US Post Office as the first machine operator on Reach Road and he later retired as a clerk. He was a member of Elimsport United Methodist Church and the Christian Crusaders. He was also a member of Laurel Run Hunting Club and was a White Deer Sportsman.
An avid outdoors man, Robert enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, camping and shooting silhouettes at the Consolidated Sportsmen.
Surviving in addition to his wife are; a son, Michael Kahley; three step-children, David Yarison, Cynthia Bayley (Michael), Bobby Buss (Anita); three granddaughters, Chelsea, Erika and Chelsea Lee; three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Lorelie and Sammy; two sisters, Helen Condom (Bill) and Jane Martz; a brother, Charles Kahley (Cathy); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Kahley; sisters, Shirley Bishop and Mary Zimmerman, a brother, Paul Kahley, a grandson, Michael Kahley and step son, Charles Yarison
A funeral service to honor the life of Robert will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Elimsport United Methodist Church, 16145 Rt. 44 Hwy., Allenwood with his Pastor, Michael A. Hill, officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at church.
