Raymond G. Baker, 93, of Williamsport, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Frances L. (Swartz) Baker on December 28, 2012.
Born March 6, 1926 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Raymond S. Baker and Lulu Bell (Mull) Baker Weaver.
Ray was a 1944 graduate of Williamsport Area High School. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII.
Following his military service, he began work as an iron worker and retired in 1991. He was a member of the Local 404 Iron Workers Union. During his working years, Ray furthered his education, obtained his brokers license, and opened his own agency, the R.G. Baker Insurance Agency. In addition, he was also a Pastor and later on licensed through the C&MA Church.
Ray served the Lord, his family and his community in many ways.
A man of many talents, Ray loved music, playing his guitar, playing baseball as a young man, tending to his garden and enjoying the great outdoors, trout fishing, hunting, and traveling.
Surviving are his three children, Joan F. Maloff (Dr. Stephen) of Pocatello, ID, Kim Y. High (Edward) of Lock Haven, and Marc A. Baker (Sandra) of Williamsport, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a brother Donald L. Baker of Williamsport, and extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Ray was preceded in death by a half-sister, Blanche Farr and sister-in-law Eva Baker.
A funeral service to honor the life of Ray will be held Wednesday, December 18, at 2 PM at Knight-Confer Funeral Home 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport with his nephew, Pastor Ron Baker, officiating. Private burial will be held in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. A viewing will be held from 1 PM until 2 PM until time of service at Knight-Confer.
