Penny I. Kutz, 87

Penny I. Kutz, 87, of Muncy, died Sunday, August 10, 2025 at her home of 60 years.

Born June 4, 1938 in Bloomsburg, Penny was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Hunsinger) Meeker. On June 27, 1959, having graduated from Geisinger School of Nursing earlier that year, she married the late Frank Kutz. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Penny worked as a nurse at Muncy Valley Hospital before becoming a full time mother to her four children. Later in life she went back to nursing as the industrial nurse at the former Sprout Waldron, now Andritz.

Penny enjoyed summer vacations, playing cards with her friends, relaxing by the pool, and especially loving her cats. She walked each morning, even to her last day, to visit friends, checking on each like the town mom, and providing encouragement or a stern word as she saw needed.

Surviving are three sons and their spouses, Jeffrey and Patty Kutz, of West Chester, Kevin and Linda Kutz, of Pasadena, MD, and Stephen Kutz and Courtney Womack, of New York, NY; one daughter and partner, Wendy Kutz and Mona Lacy, of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Sean Carpenter, officiating.

Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery and a luncheon will be served at Church of the Resurrection.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Penny’s name be made to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2850 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS), 195 Phillips Park Dr., S. Williamsport, PA 17702 or the Muncy Public Library, 108 S. Main St. Muncy, PA 17756, or Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA 17756.
