Patricia A. Carter, 89, of Trout Run, passed away, Sunday May 18, 2025 at the Gatehouse surrounded by family. Surviving is her loving husband of 58 years, Joseph E. Carter.
Born October 29, 1935 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Oscar F. and Hazel M. (Keeler) Hoover.
Pat was a graduate of Williamsport High School – Class of 1953.
For more than 35 years, she worked in the bakery department at Weis Markets, where her passion for cake decorating earned her the role of manager. She frequently shared her skills by teaching others. Even outside of work, she loved baking, creating sweet treats and even wedding cakes for many people in her free time.
She attended the South Williamsport United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed working on crafts, crossword puzzles, reading great novels, playing board & card games. She loved going on long rides through the mountains & countryside. Her most cherished time was spending time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her three loving children: Linda M. Sponhouse of Conesus, NY, Becky L. Sponhouse of Rochester, NY & Doug Carter; two Step-daughters: Sharon G. Thorn of Butler County, PA & Deborah A. Carter of Pittsburgh, PA.; two Grand Daughters: Theresa M. Sponhouse of Rochester, NY & Chelsea Jo Rivkind of Geneseo, NY; six Great-Grandchildren: Joshua M. Sponhouse (Danisha Davis), Jeramiah Colon Sponhouse, Angelina Colon Sponhouse, Joseph Colon Sponhouse, Camilla Rivkind Moore, Quinn Rivkind Moore; two Great-Great-Grandchildren: Joshua M. Sponhouse Jr. & Jiraya M.Sponhouse. Along with many Nieces, Nephews, In-Laws and Many, Many Friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers – ‘Bud’ Hoover, Oscar F. Hoover Jr & Dan L. Hoover; and four sisters – Florence C. Caldwell, Dorothy M. May, Evelyn L. Eddinger & Gayle M. (Ritter) (Judy) Emick.
As per her wishes, no services will be held.
