Norma Jean Furman, 95

Norma Jean Furman, 95

Norma Jean Furman peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at her home where the family had been providing support.

Born July 23, 1930 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Grant and Grace Koch.

Norma’s life was a testament to the power of love, as evidenced by her 73-year marriage to her beloved husband, Lloyd “Jack” Furman who preceded her in death on January 3, 2023. After graduating valedictorian from Hepburnville High School, she worked on the family farm. Norma and Jack’s love story began on the family farm where Jack worked. It was sealed when they eloped in Hagerstown, Maryland, on April 25, 1949. Together they built a life on Mahaffey Lane, where they nurtured a family and a faith that would endure the test of time.

Norma’s life was marked by her dedication to her family which she treasured and to her Lord she loved. She reveled in the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, supporting them with her presence and prayers. It was not uncommon for her to participate in outdoor and indoor games where her competitive spirit would sometimes reveal itself. She loved attending their sporting events, graduations, and performances. Her unwavering commitment to her faith was evident in her long-standing membership at the former Trinity United Methodist Church. Norma’s service to the Lord was the cornerstone of her life, and her church family benefited greatly from her steadfast presence and involvement until it’s closing.

A life-long homemaker, she was dedicated to raising her children. Her strong work ethic whether found working in the garden, doing outside chores, or keeping the house clean was clearly evident. Her smile, laughter, and love were contagious.

Norma is survived by her four children, Pauline Schreck (Carl), Lloyd Furman II (Susan), Max Furman (Kathy), and Janice Graybill; eight grandchildren, Andrea, Jennifer (Richard), Tiffani (Chris), Jaclyn, Jeremy (Mel), Max Jr. (Jodi), Jason (Ashley), Elizabeth (Ben); 22 great-grandchildren, Madison, Serena, Joseph, Kailee, Caiden, Jaelynn, Kyler, Kaelyn, Braeden, Jaxon, Emma, Ayla, Zoe, Trace, Gage, Lincoln, Catie, Charlotte, Levi, Leta, Logan, and Lucas; her siblings Donald Koch, Patricia Lepley, Carol Johnston, and Kay Trimble; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Each held a special place in her large heart.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Albert Charles “Chuck” Graybill III; two brothers, Norman and Jim Koch, and two sisters Betty Koch and Faye Moore.

Her life will be honored by receiving friends on Monday, August 18th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. A service to celebrate her life will be held at the Antes Fort GM Church, 4th and Main Streets, Antes Fort on Tuesday, August 19th at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends will also be received an hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions be made to The Samaritan’s Purse PO Box 3000, Boone, N.C., 28607, or your favorite charity.
