Nelson C. Bussom, 82 of Picture Rocks, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, February 7, 2025 at The Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport.
Born October 1, 1942 in Williamsport he was the son of the late Charles and Rachael (Bingaman) Bussom. On May 30, 1968 he married the former Penny L. Taylor and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage.
He was a 1961 graduate of Williamsport High School and served honorably in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Nelson was a part owner and worked at American Crepe Corporation in Montoursville for over 15 years. He was a former member of the Picture Rocks Volunteer Fire Company. Also he was a member of Muncy Valley Moose Lodge #866, Hughesville American Legion Post #35, and Highland Lake Manor.
Nelson enjoyed flying model airplanes, hunting, fly fishing, gardening, swimming, and snowmobiling. He loved solving jigsaw puzzles and building train sets during Christmas time. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his entire family.
In addition to his wife, Penny, he is survived by two daughters: Tammy L. Heeman and Tracy A. Walton, both of Picture Rocks; two grandchildren: Kaley Harte and her husband Andrew, and Rebekah Walton and her fiancé David Gavlick; two sisters: Margaret Whitby, of Virginia, and Norma (Leif) Thoreson, of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews: two grand dogs: Bennett and Emmie; and grand cat: Sweetie.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: John Bussom; one sister: Joanne Landis; a special aunt: Josie Sholder; and grand dog: Freya.
Per his wishes there will be no public viewing, funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Hughesville Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc, 5069 Route 220 Hwy, with Pastor James McGee, officiating. There will be full military honors held at 11:00 AM at Picture Rocks Cemetery for burial.
