Nancy Lee (Stanley) Hanna, 81, went home to be with her Lord on October 18, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at Valley View Nursing Home.
Nancy was born August 23, 1939 in the Rothfus Center, Williamsport, PA to the late Dean Stanley and Ida Mae (Brightly) Long. Raised by the late William Long (step-father) and Ida May (Brightly) Long, she grew up in Bodines, PA. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Joyce Bloom, Carlene Reid and Bonnie Detwiler. She is survived by William Long, Jr, her step-brother.
62 years ago, on April 19, 1958, Nancy married William Lee Hanna. She is also survived by their two children, Jeffrey Hanna, of Chester Springs, PA and Jennifer Hanna-Andrews (Chad Andrews), of Montoursville, PA. In addition, she is survived by five grandchildren (Jeffrey Hanna Jr, Jessica Hanna, Heather Hanna (Geoff Lorentz), Jordan Hanna and Kylie Andrews) and two great-grandchildren (Carter Lorentz and Hadlee Lorentz).
Nancy graduated from Williamsport High School in 1956 and attended Western Union School, Washington, NJ. She was employed by Western Union in Washington, DC, Philadelphia and Williamsport for 20 years. She also was employed by the Williamsport Sun-Gazette with a motor carrier route for 20 years.
Nancy was known for her kind heart and gentle spirit. She embraced her family unconditionally and spent countless hours with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She shared a passion for her life on the farm where she surrounded herself with animals and flowers. A favorite pastime of Nancy’s was trail riding with her horses. She loved and cared for her horses, dogs, cats, cows, rabbits and chickens. Likewise, much of her spare time in the summer was spent creating and maintaining amazing flower beds. Other interests included playing cello in the orchestra, trombone in marching band and the piano.
In early summer 2021, a Life Celebration will be announced to include family, friends, flowers, music, fellowship and food will be held for Nancy on the Hanna Farm. For the time being, please remember Nancy by planting a tree, tending to flowers, singing hymns and dedicating quality time to family, children and animals.
In 1951, Nancy was one of the first students of Marsh Hill Summer Bible School and this is where she discovered her love for the Lord.
