Nancy L., 83 & Gordon L. McCarty, 86

A combined graveside service for Nancy L. and Gordon L. McCarty of Montoursville, who passed within six hours of each other April 27th, and 28th, will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Montoursville Cemetery with the Rev. David C. Smith officiating. Military Honors for Gordon accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. Gordon and Nancy celebrated their 62th wedding anniversary on February 4, 2018.

Nancy was born February 2, 1935 in Williamsport a daughter of Norman F. and Thelma M. Hall Moore. She worked and retired from the Williamsport Hospital Admissions Department. She had a strong faith as a member of the Montoursville Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and served on the Montoursville Election Board. She enjoyed traveling, loved, and was devoted to her family. She delivered Meals on Wheels and was an active blood donor.

She was predeceased by her parents, and her sister, Roberta Moore.

Gordon was born July 20, 1931 in Montoursville a son of LeRoy and Blanche Gardner McCarty. He had worked at GTE Sylvania until its closing and then worked for Textron until his retirement. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Air Force. He was a member of the Eugene Grafius American legion Post 104 in Montoursville, the L.O.O.M., the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, and was a life member of the Eagles Nest Rod and Gun Club in Sullivan Co. He enjoyed Hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was an active blood donor.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Donald and sister Wanda Babcock.

Together they are survived by their sons, Norman J. (Diana) McCarty of Montoursville and Michael L. (Christopher Schroeder) of Estero, FL; granddaughters, Heather R. (John) Martin, Erin L. (Matthew) Johnson, Kaitlyn E. (Brian) Twigg, and their great grandchildren, Riley, Kaden, Amelia, Brielle, Owen, Elliette, Monroe and Rowen.

Nancy is also survived by her sisters, Rebecca (James) Stabley of Montoursville and Edith (Gregory) Gilbert of Pennsdale.

There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to either the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 205 Tule St., Montoursville, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Montoursville.
