Murray E. Platt, 77, of Mill Creek Township, died March 6, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Williamsport, the son of the late Leary C., Sr. and Isabel (Mitstifer) Platt
Murray retired from Textron. He enjoyed farming, gardening, raising animals, and his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters, Shirley Bower and Anna Smith.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, the former Phyllis Reeder; a son, Dave M. (Eileen) Platt, of Montoursville; a daughter, Christine E. (Greg) Shuck, of Muncy; a brother, Leary “Buzz” (Sandy) Platt, of Montoursville; two sisters, Geraldine Dymeck, of Montoursville, and Caroline (Nelson) Fisher, of Turbotville; brothers-in-law, Philip Bower and Donald Smith; six grandchildren, Shawn (Julia) Shuck, Sarah Shuck (James Pulizzi), Janelle Platt, Chase Platt, Jessica (Rick) Wannamaker, and Melinda (John) Mussare; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 11, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, with Rev. Scott R. Koser officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
A viewing for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the funeral home.
