Melvin A. Gruendler, 91

Melvin A. Gruendler, 91, of Lock Haven passed away Saturday March 22, 2025, at Williamsport Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Born November 3, 1933, in Munson, PA, he was the son of Gustave and Anna (Schwiderske) Gruendler.

On October 26, 1957, he wed Joan (Spotts) Gruendler and they were married for 67 wonderful years.

Surviving is his wife, Joan; sons, Mark of Lock Haven and David and wife Christine of Lock Haven; grandchildren, Jessica Dolan and husband Gary and Joshua Gruendler; great grandchild, Ellie Dolan; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Edward, Eugene and Norman; and a sister, Donalyn.

Melvin was a member of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lock Haven. He was a Veteran of the Army and enjoyed his service in non-wartime Germany.

He worked various jobs in the area including over 20 years at Clinton Paper Company and Brodart.

Mel was a kind affable man who enjoyed time with his family, playing cards and chatting with his friends at the Sons of Italy. He was also a big fan of sports, including The Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penn State Football.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 12:30 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745 with Pastor Ed Coup officiating.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from Noon until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lock Haven.
