Max Howard Shnyder, 90

Max Howard Shnyder, 90, a resident of Montgomery, PA, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 21, 2019. Born Tuesday, February 5, 1929 in Elimsport, Lycoming Co., PA he was the son of the late Robert and Lillian (Betts) Shnyder.

He was preceded in death by his wife wife, Mary Joann (Pentz) Shnyder on April 12, 2011. Her death broke a marital union of over 57 years.

Max was a 1947 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School where he was a member of the football and basketball teams. He honorably served his country with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1948-1952 as a map reader. Max retired in 1994 from Brodart Industries where he was employed as a furniture supervisor.

He attended St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church. Max was a member of Bower-Decker American Legion Post 251 at Montgomery and the Muncy Creek Angler’s Association. He enjoyed vacations, fishing, watching football and wrestling, playing cards with family and especially watching his grandchildren playing in their many sports activities.

Max is survived by four children, Shonny and husband David Walter of Millmont; Machiel and husband Angelo Marino of The Villages, FL; Bobbie Repaci of Watsontown; Richard and wife Heather Shnyder of Montgomery and his beloved 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Max H. Shnyder II on July 25, 2005 and four sisters and their husbands, Ruth and Clifford Edwards; Pauline and George Budman; Evelyn and Carl Edwards; Janet and Ned Koser.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main Street, Muncy with Reverend Theodore Cockley officiating. Interment will be in the Elimsport Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans organizations. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 – 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
