Maurice F. “Woody” Woodside, Jr., 75, of Trout Run, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years Faye L. (Raup) Woodside on January 18, 2017.
Born January 4, 1944 he was a son of the late Maurice F., Sr. and Doris Woodside.
Woody served his country proudly in the US Navy and was self-employed. He was the owner of Woody’s Goodies Antiques and Collectibles and was known for his trinkets and treasures. Woody was a master at tinkering around, enjoyed gardening and could serve up some of the most unique dishes for dinner from his own homemade recipes. Woody was a fun loving, thrifty man who enjoyed telling stories and reminiscing about the good old days. He cared and provided for his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Maurice F. “Chip” Woodside, III (Tina) of Williamsport, Melissa F. Casella (John) of McAdoo and Mandy F. Miller (Mike) of Williamsport; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters; four brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor the life of Woody will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at Sanders and again following the service. To celebrate Woody’s life the family asks you wear casual attire. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Woody’s name to the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, 401 Penn Ave. Scranton, PA 18503.
