Matt Swartz, 61, of Montoursville, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
Born December 23, 1963, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Paul and Patricia (Leister) Swartz.
Originally from Juniata County, Matt became a member of the Tuscarora Church of the Brethren and later enlisting into the Navy where he honorably served his country. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 104 in Montoursville.
Matt was a man of many talents who enjoyed cooking, gardening, TikTok, listening to music, and spending time with his loving husband, family and friends. He was always the life of the party and the light in the room. If he touched your life in any way, he made an impact. If you could mix a country bumpkin and a flamingo, you would be pretty close to him. He was loved deeply because he was unapologetically himself. He encouraged those around him to do the same. He was a man that wore many hats, if you watched his TikTok videos you know what I mean.
He is survived by his husband of 11 years, Thomas Swartz, of Montoursville; three brothers, Timothy Swartz, of Avis, Robert (Jamie) Swartz, of McAlisterville, and Chuck Swartz, of Lewistown; numerous nieces and nephews and his four furry friends.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday September 5, 2025, at McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, PA 17754.
