Mary Magdalene Anderson, 91

Mary Magdalene Anderson, 91, affectionately known as “Aunt Lena”, passed away at The Williamsport Home on May 21, 2025.

She was born in Collomsville on August 26, 1933, a daughter of the late William C. Sr. and Martha C. (Fischer) Waldman.

Mary was a member of Mater Dolorosa, now St. Joseph the Worker Parish. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, now St John Neuman Regional Academy, and went on to work as a clerk at the former Lakatos Pharmacy. She was active in both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts when her children were younger, serving as Den Mother for a time. Later in life, she enjoyed puzzles, loved gardening, and canning what she grew.

Her beloved husband of 58 years, Dean J. Anderson preceded her in death on January 25, 2012.

She is survived by their children; Mark A. (Pamela) Anderson of South Williamsport, James J. (Donna) Anderson of Summit Hills, Jeffrey S. Anderson of Williamsport and Cecilia Ferguson of Blanchard, PA; grandchildren Brad (Erin) Ferguson and Pamela (Paul Jr.) Kadash; great-grandchildren Dean and Dylan Ferguson; and a sister, Theresa Staib of Williamsport.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dean, Mary was preceded in death by brothers; Emil Waldman, Cletus G. Waldman Sr., John Waldman, Vincent Waldman, Herman J. Waldman, and William C. Waldman Jr; and a sister, Sister Cletus Waldman, SCC.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W 4th St., Williamsport PA with Rev. David W. Bechtel officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
