Mary Elizabeth Halloran Baker, 103

Mary Elizabeth Halloran Baker, passed away early on the morning of March 8, 2018 at Susque View Home where she had been a resident for the past few years. Mary was born on January 19, 1915, the daughter of John and Ellen Shade Halloran. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Francis of Lock Haven, Augustine “Gus” of Williamsport and William “Beany” (her twin) of Lock Haven; and her sister, Helen Kettler of Langhorne, Pa.

Mary was a 1933 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Lock Haven; and in 1937, she received her BA in Music from Marywood College in Scranton. Her career in education consisted of classroom teaching of several grades on the elementary level in the Lock Haven Catholic schools; and for a number of years, taught Music for Keystone Central School District where in the 1970’s, she served as the Supervisor of Music Education. She also served as Choir Director for the Immaculate Conception Church in Lock Haven.

Mary and Charles R. Baker were wed in the rectory of Immaculate Conception Church on July 13, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Rosellen “Bonnie” and her husband, Dr. James Bologa of Lancaster, PA and Rehoboth, DE; and a son, Dr. Robert W. Baker, and wife, Vonda Shady, who reside in Georgetown, TX and Boalsburg, PA. Mary is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Mary and her husband, Charles, enjoyed a rich and full life. They were especially fond of attending musical events, traveling, playing bridge and spending time with family. Until the last year, or so, Mary could be found at the piano in the Atrium at Susque View playing by memory the “old favorites” sometimes requested by fellow residents. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 310 W. Water St., Lock Haven, Pa 17745 with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Lock Haven.

Friends and family will be received for a viewing on Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, PA 17745.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Lock Haven Catholic School Endowment Fund.
