Mary E. Carney, 85, of Montoursville, died Feb. 23, 2019, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Boston, MA, a daughter of George and Janet (Sinclair) Lane.
Mary had worked at the former GTE Sylvania, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she was a CCD Teacher and sang in the choir, and was a member of American Legion Post 268 Auxiliary, Muncy. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Den Mother, served Meals-On-Wheels, and was a Montoursville Swim Team official. She enjoyed bowling and traveling the world with her husband.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Jenny Rakouskos.
Surviving is her husband, of 65 years John P. Carney; three sons, Rev. Thomas J. (Tracey), Daniel M., and Barry P. (Annette); a daughter, Carol A. (Earl) Carney-Anderson; a brother, James Lane; a sister, Eileen (Patrick) Ronca; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut Street, Montoursville, with Rev. Michael S. McCormick as celebrant. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
A viewing for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville. The Rosary will be recited 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
