Mary Ann Smith Lichter, 83, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 21, 2022 after a battle with cancer at her residence.
She was born Sept. 28, 1939, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late Charles and Dixie Smith.
Mary Ann graduated from Williamsport High School in 1957 where she was a majorette and also in Stevens Junior High, where she made many friends. She retired from Lakes to Seas Credit Union and had worked at the former GTE Sylvania and Sears in the cash office.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she was very active, she was a life member of 47 years of Beta Sigma Phi, and a member of Red Hat Society. Her family and friends were her greatest joy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her son, Timothy M. Lichter; daughter, Karen Puckett; brothers, Robert W., James M., and Charles P. Smith; and a sister, Sally L. Chamberlain.
Surviving is her husband of 65 years Charles M. Lichter; son, Robert D. (Jeannette) Lichter; daughters, Linda L. (John) Fritz and Tracey R. (Jay) Martinez; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 28 at Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville with Pastor Megan A. Shaffer officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be from 1- 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Mary Ann’s memory.
