Martha J. Brooks, 96, of Jersey Shore, PA, saw her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

She had gone forward at an evangelistic meeting as a little girl, realizing that she was a sinner and in need of salvation. At that time, she trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior knowing that Jesus is the only way to heaven. Martha was dedicated to her Savior and faithfully served Him as a member of the First Baptist Church of Elimsport, where she taught the primary Sunday School class for 38 years and assisted her husband in the youth program. She was also very devoted to her husband and family. She always went above and beyond to make everyone feel special by doing little things that meant a lot to them.

Martha was born July 28, 1929, to the late Fredrick and Myrtle Forster in Allenwood, PA.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Regina Brooks of Ulysses, PA; her grandchildren, Gretchen Brooks of Ulysses, PA, Erich (Shawna) Brooks of Ulysses, PA, Heidi (Joshua) O’Neil of Lawrenceville, PA, and Alyson Brooks of Ulysses, PA; nine great-grandchildren: Breanna, Blake, Beth, Brielle, and Braelyn Brooks, Reilly, Payton, Ethan, and Kelton O’Neil; and nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her husband E. Byron Brooks (to whom she was married 78 years); son Byron E. “By” Brooks; parents Fredrick and Myrtle(Pauling) Forster; and siblings George Forster, Robert Forster, Donald Forster, Ellie Young, and William Forster.

Friends may call at Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, PA 17740 on Monday, February 9th, 2026 from 10:30-11:30 AM with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 AM. Her grandson, Rev. Erich Brooks will officiate along with Rev. Todd Baker. Burial will be at Jersey Shore Cemetery.
