Marlene W. Corson, 92, of Wolf Township, died Saturday, August 30, 2025, at WeCare at Sycamore while also under care of Geisinger Hospice.
Born February 4, 1933, in Stark County, OH, she was a daughter of Raymond R. and Sarah O. (Miller) Burkhart. She graduated from Hughesville High School and continued her education by graduating from the former Williamsport Area Community College with a degree in nursing. She and her late husband, Melvin M. Corson, who passed on August 15, 2013, shared a wonderful life of 61 years together having married on December 12, 1951. Marlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. For seventeen- and one-half years, she was employed as a nurse for Divine Providence Hospital and retired in February of 1997.
She is survived by four children: Ann (Howard) McCarty, Betsy Steinruck, Rusty (Betty) Corson and Laurie (Leo) Valentin, all of Huntersville, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Marlene was the last surviving member of her immediate family and preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five siblings: Marilyn Sieg, Foster Burkhart, Steve Burkhart, Gladys Baum, and Betty Baxter.
In keeping with Marlene’s wishes, there will be no public services, and she will be laid to rest beside her late husband in the Webster Cemetery, Huntersville. Arrangements are under the care of McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E Water St, Hughesville, PA 17737.
