Marlene B. Millward, passed peacefully away on February 9, 2024, at the age of 87.
She was born to Floyd and Margaret Bush on August 30, 1936, in Homer, NY. She was the fourth of five children and the last of her immediate family to survive.
Marlene was raised on a dairy farm at the end of the depression and learned to work hard while also playing ball and “Cowboys and Indians” with her brothers Pete, George, Ronnie and sister, Lura “Tootie”. She worked her own way through college, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Cortland State in Cortland, NY. Marlene worked full-time as an elementary school teacher until she married Donald Millward and moved to Williamsport, where they raised their three daughters. She then worked part-time as a substitute teacher and full-time as the best mother any child ever had. She always put her family before herself.
Marlene taught children’s Sunday school for most of her life. Her heart was always for children, smiling and talking to them wherever she went, and they loved her in return. She enjoyed participating in reading theater and missed her calling as an actress. She loved to playfully tease her family and always made them laugh. She will be missed immeasurably by her family and all who loved her. We are greatly comforted knowing that we will soon see and hug her when Christ returns. (I Thessalonians 4: 13-18).
She lost her husband, Donald in 2015 and her grandson, Joshua in 2013.
She is survived by her daughters, Kelley Borowski (Darren), Donna Mackin (Bruce) and Terri Ryan (Jack), as well as her grandchildren, Keslyn, David, Heather, Dustin, Kaity, Leah and Luke; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Jordan, Joseph and Lydia, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She has left a legacy of love, never to be forgotten.
A funeral service to honor the life of Marlene will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 17, at Covenant Central Presbyterian Church 807 W Fourth St., Williamsport. A viewing will be held from 12 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. at the church. If possible, please stay for a late luncheon kindly provided by the church to remember and celebrate the wonderful life of Marlene “Mimi” Millward.
Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
