Marc D. Cantor, 59

Marc D. Cantor, 59, of Olney, Md., died Friday, April 25, 2025, after a year and half long battle with colon cancer. Throughout his difficult fight, he never lost his humor or trademark biting wit.

Born March 23, 1966, in Washington, DC, Marc was the youngest of five children and grew up in Potomac, MD. He attended Wootton High School and graduated from the University of Maryland. At Wootton, Marc was captain of the wrestling team, winning the Montgomery County Championship in 1984. Marc earned his Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice. Marc’s love of the law soon turned to technology where he held several jobs as a computer technologist, corporate trainer, technical recruiter and finally, a technical sales associate. After ten years, he chose the life of an entrepreneur, giving his full attention to great service, creativity, and freedom with his calendar.

As an entrepreneur, Marc dabbled in many avenues long before they were commonplace. While running both Commercial and Potomac Pressure Washing for 22 years, he invented special pressure washing stencils for corporate branding, special occasions, and creative signage. Employing his technology roots, he created an internet Job Radio site before radio stations hit the web. His favorite hobby was looking for “the better mouse trap” leading him to invent an improved water cooler, and for a short while, running a T-shirt business. Marc often collaborated, both locally and across the country, to bring his ideas to life, even spending time bantering with Marc Cuban. This was before Mr. Cuban’s Shark Tank and NBA days. With each new venture he picked up another friend, carrying each relationship with him for the rest of his life.

Marc held strong political beliefs. When he wasn’t plotting his next venture, he was immersing himself, and sarcastically sharing with others, the news of the day. The only passion that trumped Marc’s inventive and political passions was family and friends.

Predeceased by his mother, Sallie Ann Cantor, he is survived by his four siblings, Kirk (Patsy) Cantor of Montoursville, PA., Dena (Richard) Nicholas of Germantown, MD., Anthony Cantor of Ashburn, VA., and Carla Arp of Mechanicsburg, PA., and numerous nieces and nephews, Kristen (Moi Tan) Cantor, Caylee (Stephen) Medeiros, Kelsey (Trevor) Route, Shannon (Javier) Fueres Cantor, Tara (Jonathan) O’Neill, Dominick Arp, Nara Nicholas, Keighlee Arp, Alexandra Arp, Alexis Cantor, and Annalise Cantor, along with Grand Nieces and Nephews, Marina, Judah, and Josephine Medeiros, Jatari and Asiri Fueres Cantor, and Isabella and Olivia O’Neill.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Turning Point Church, 13200 Arctic Ave, Rockville, MD 20853. A reception at the church will follow. The Family will receive attendees at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. A private burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at the conclusion of the reception.

Marc requested that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in the name of his mother and uncle, Sallie A. Cantor, former Wish Discovery Volunteer, and F. Weller Meyer, former Board Member.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville, PA. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at http://www.mccartythomas.com.
