Lawrence P. “Larry” Shaffer, Sr., 75, of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport.

He was married on June 14, 2002 to the former Gail L. Danley, who survives. They have shared 22 years of marriage.

Larry was born on February 13, 1949 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Weaver) Shaffer. He had worked and retired from Industrial Fabricators after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and woodworking in his workshop.

In addition to his wife Gail, he is survived by three sons; Larry Shaffer, Jr. (Lori), Joseph Shaffer (Marion) and Charles Danley, all of Williamsport, two daughters; Melinda Leitzel (Leonard) of Shamokin and Zofia Reaney (Paul) of S. Williamsport, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two brothers; Joseph Shaffer (Nancy) of Williamsport and Kenny Shaffer (Becky) of S. Williamsport, two sisters; Mary Ann Krauser (Gregg) of Trout Run and Cathy Lunkwintz of Williamsport and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter; Michelle Shaffer and one sister; Margaret “Peggy” Shaffer.

There will be a public viewing 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, 500 West 4th St., Williamsport where the funeral will begin at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Richard Wright will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
