Lawrence L. Long, Sr., loving father and grandfather, 75, of Jersey Shore, passed away on Sunday June 2, 2019 at Lock Haven Hospital.
Lawrence was born on August 1, 1943 in Jersey Shore and was the son of John W. and Irene K. Geiswhite Long.
He was a 1963 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. He retired from the Army National Guard in 1995 as a Staff Sergeant and later from Lending Textiles Company in Montgomery. Lawrence was a member of the Jersey Shore VFW Post 5859, Jersey Shore American Legion, Castanea Fire Company, and former member of Independent Hose Company.
Lawrence is survived by a daughter Michelle (Glen Laubach) Long of Lock Haven; four grandchildren, Brooke Long, Chandler Long, Arianna Long, Summer Long; a sister Jean Long Walker, Elwood City; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 North Main St., Jersey Shore with Tracy Showers-Spangler officiating. He will be laid to rest in Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. Visitation will held on Thursday at the funeral home from 3 to 6 p.m.
