Larry E. Shields, 76, of Avis, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 8, 2018. He was the son of the late Harry R. and Margaret V. (Donahay) Shields, born January 14, 1942 in Jersey Shore.
Larry graduated from Jersey Shore High School and on December 25, 1971 he married the former Karen McCloskey; they shared 46 years of marriage. Larry was an auto mechanic most of his life and worked his way up to being a Service Manager; he had been employed by K-Mart-Penske and also Penn College until his retirement.
Larry attended The Garman Lutheran Church. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA, Jersey Shore Elks, Jersey Shore Moose, and Southern Clinton County Sportsmen’s Club. Larry was a social member of the Lock Haven Eagles and The Sons of Italy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, detailing cars and doing yard work and gardening. What family and friends will remember the most about Larry will be his kind personality and his willingness to always lend a helping hand to anyone at anytime, he was well known for his loving and giving heart.
In addition to his loving wife, Larry is survived a son, Derrick Shields of Woolrich; two daughters, Robyn Shields-Campana, of VA and Holly Shields-Barnhart, of Lamar; six grandchildren, Alyssa Campana, Cody and Dylan Shields, Austin, Lauren, and Brian, Jr. Barnhart; six step-grandchildren and two great grandchildren , Aerianna and Vivian. He is also survived by two aunts.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore.
