Born October 7, 1947, in Sayre, she was a daughter of Ralph and Ann Swartz. She was a member of the graduating Class of 1965 from Towanda High School. She married her husband, the late Joseph W. “Turkey Joe” Hoover, who passed on August 17, 2015. They shared a wonder 40 years together having been married on July 19, 1975.

Throughout her early years, she was employed as a unit clerk for Robert Packer Hospital. She was also employed by Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company, and the Ben Franklin Store in Dushore. Throughout her younger years, she enjoyed fishing, taking many bus trips to casinos in Wilkes-Barre, Tioga Downs, and meeting their friends in Atlantic City. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, friends and her Village of Overton. She enjoyed sewing and will be remembered for her many good meals of rigatoni, lasagna and her amazing perogies. She loved her beagles, basset hounds, and numerous dogs of Zack, Dutchey, Dudley and Shania.

June loved “her Village of Overton” and will always be remembered for the roles and names held in everyone’s lives as “Mom”, “Sis”, “Aunt”, “Momma June”, “Grammy June” and “Grandpa June”.

Surviving is her daughter, Jessica (Mark Parsons) Hoover, of Overton; adopted brother and sister, Kathy (Ray Nagele Jr.) Quail of Overton; life-long friend, Gloria Johnson, of Powell; three siblings: Wayne (Kathy) Swartz, Jean Henon, and David Swartz; two nephews: Nick Hoover and Josh Hoover; brother-in-law, Robert Hoover; and close friends, Dolores Watson and Shirley Kobbe.

In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Will Hoover.

A celebration of June’s life will be held in the spring in “her” Village of Overton. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Overton Community Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of McCarty-Thomas Funeral Homes, Inc, 119 Carpenter St, Dushore, PA 18614.
