Judith E. Wertz, 77

Judith E. Wertz, 77, of Montgomery, died peacefully, Friday, July 31, 2025 at Leighton Place Senior Living, Williamsport, who provided excellent and loving care.

Born December 2, 1947 in Jackson, TN, she was the daughter of Charles W. “Bill” and Elizabeth (Green) Steward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert R “Bob” Wertz, and two siblings, Clay Steward and Cindy Morningstar.

Judi was a 1966 graduate of Montgomery High School and graduated from Geisinger School of Nursing. She and Bob were co-owners of a pizza shop in Penns Creek for many years, before she began her career as a registered nurse. Judi was a true caregiver with a caring and loving heart for all those she met. She loved her family dearly and had a special place in her life for all her dogs. Judi was very artistic and drew beautiful pictures and portraits. She enjoyed tending her garden and had a mind to build and construct anything that she could. She traveled to Germany with Bob while he served in the US Army, and to Latvia to assist her missionary sister. She loved the Outer Banks, and Disney World, especially Tinkerbell.

Surviving are four siblings, Suzanne Hinkle (Tom) of Chattanooga, TN , Charles “Toby” Steward (Susan) of Cogan Station, Daniel Steward (Lyn) of Duncan, SC, and Deborah Stout (Larry) of Montgomery, and many precious nieces and nephews that she loved to spoil.

A funeral service to honor Judi’s life will be held at 1:30pm Monday, August 4, 2025 at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St. Williamsport with a time of visitation will be held from 1:00-1:30pm. Burial will follow directly at the Green Lawn Cemetery, Montgomery.

Memorial contributions in Judi’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
