Jude Elijah Elion, born on February 2,1971, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, died on December 9, 2025, at the Geisinger ICU after a nobly fought extended illness. A respected school psychologist for many years, the last twenty of which were in the Berwick Area School District, he was appreciated for his ability to detect real strengths in children of all ages regardless of their challenges and varieties of ability. He will be sorrowfully missed by his parents, siblings, and friends for whom he always exemplified unconditional love.
He was a graduate of West Branch School, Curtin Middle School, Williamsport Area High School, and Bucknell University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in the science of education with credentials in school psychology and school counseling.
Jude was noted for his interest and strong abilities in many things. Swimming and baseball were favorite sports along the way. Playing bass guitar, singing, and working with song lyrics with great friends and band colleagues was another valued endeavor. His special musical interest was the genre of progressive rock.
Jude was also noted for some of his unique talents in geography, meteorology, and certain areas of trivia. Animals of all kinds seemed to want to be recognized by Jude and would often stand and wait for a small communication. He was often depended upon to really know what the weather was going to be. He inspired friends to study maps and approach chemistry (a favorite high school subject) in different ways. He enjoyed creative writing and was recently finishing a novel that he hoped could be published. A positive attitude, a real commitment to friends and family, and a delightful sense of humor were key attributes of the individual personality of Jude Elion. He would definitely like it to be mentioned that he is also survived by his 1984 Plymouth Voyager and predeceased by his 1993 Honda Civic!
Jude will always be appreciated, respected, and profoundly missed by those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Jude Elion’s Life will be held at The Peter Herdic House (407 West 4th Street, Williamsport, Pennsylvania) on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P. M.
