Joyce A. (Brooks) Frey, 84

Joyce A. (Brooks) Frey, 84, of Linden, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the Gatehouse, Williamsport. She was born in Jersey Shore on October 7th, 1940, to the late Russell and Violet (Ergott) Brooks.

Joyce married the late Kenneth L. “Kenny” Frey, Sr. on May 14, 1960, and shared 64 & 1/2 wonderful years together. Joyce was a member of Pine Creek Valley Christian Church, Jersey Shore. She was a homemaker that took pride in keeping a tidy house and cooking delicious meals for her family and friends.

Joyce loved traveling, attending sporting events for her grandchildren, shopping and baking for everyone she knew. Joyce was best known for her apple dumplings and baked beans. She enjoyed volunteering at Vera’s coat closet and diaper ministry. Most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family and seeing her children have children and those grandchildren have children of their own. Joyce had a heart of gold and loved helping everyone she knew by offering to clean, do laundry and wash dishes every time she came for a visit. She was lovingly known by everyone as “Mimi” and “JoJo”.

Joyce is survived by a son, Kenneth L. Frey, Jr. (Karen) of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Lori A. Brooks (Mark) of Cogan Station; six grandchildren, Joshua Brooks (Brittany), Jeremy Brooks (Heather), Jenna Parker (Nick), Kenneth L. Frey III, Adam Frey (Alissa) and Jeffrey Pennycoff; eight great granddaughters, and four great grandsons.

In addition to her parents and loving husband Kenny, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Frey; a brother, Dean Brooks; a half-brother, Gaylord Brooks; and a sister, Jane Zerbe.

The funeral service for Joyce will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at Pine Creek Valley Christian Church, 26 Locomo Lane, Jersey Shore, with Pastor Ronald Savits and Pastor Clay Hanley officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a public viewing on Friday beginning at 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at the church. A private interment will take place after the service for immediate family.
