Joseph A. “Joey” Prato, 83

Joseph A. “Joey” Prato, 83, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully at The Gatehouse on Saturday, February 10, 2024.

Joey was born in Williamsport on April 15, 1940 a son of Anthony and Margaret “Maggie” (Casale) Prato.

He was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School and served in the U.S. Army.

Joey and his wife, Ann, had owned Joey’s Place Bar & Restaurant and Joey’s Produce. He was a member of the former Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, a member of the Sons of Italy, Lodge 2786, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Lodge 970, Young Men’s Republican Club, and American Legion Post #1.

His wife, the former Ann Cassidy, died January 9, 2023.

Surviving are his grandchildren; Carli (Kyle) Ashby of Williamsport and Dominic Prato of Montoursville; great grandchildren, Lincoln, Kason and Kylen Ashby; sister-in-law, Norma Prato and a niece and a nephew.

In addition to his parents and his wife; a daughter, Kelli A. Cillo; son, Dr. Joseph P. Prato; brother, Peter A. Prato and sisters, Mary Grace and Mary Elizabeth all preceded him in death.

Per Joey’s request, there will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am, Friday, February 16, 2023 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport with the Rev. Glenn McCreary officiating. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions may be made to, Susquehanna Health Foundation for the benefit of the Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
