John W. Wilkinson, Sr., 78

John W. Wilkinson, Sr., 78, of Cogan Station, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

Born on July 8, 1945, in Berwick, he was a son of the late William and Hilda (Temple) Wilkinson.

John was a U.S. Army veteran and attended Heshbon United Methodist Church. Before retirement, John worked diligently for many years in interior construction. John enjoyed being outdoors, swimming and fishing. He loved taking his wife on spontaneous trike rides, with no planned route to travel or place to be. He also enjoyed pool, having played in many leagues in Montoursville. He was a huge John Wayne fan, living by the motto “never say you are sorry, it’s a sign of weakness”.

Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Sharon A. (Miller) Wilkinson; five children, John Wilkinson, Jr. (Rayleen), Stephanie Wilkinson, Rebecca Mort (Louie Ross), Lanetta Rodgers (Kevin), and Sheree Smales (Daniel); ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, John was also preceded in death by a son, Barry Wilkinson.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in John’s name to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Williamsport and/or Home Care and Hospice at the Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
