John W. Leisenring, 74

John W. Leisenring, 74, of Upper Fairfield Twp., died June 15, 2018 at the Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1943, in Shamokin and was raised in Woolrich, the son of the late John B. and Alice (Hoida) Leisenring.

John retired as a professional Engineer from PennDOT, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church where he was a lector, was involved in catering at the church, prison ministries, and volunteering at St. Anthony’s Center. He was an avid tennis player and had been a member of West Branch Tennis Club. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was involved in charity rides with the Blue Knights and 9/11. He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Surviving him are his wife of 49 years the former, Suzanne E. Vogel; a daughter, Colleen L. (Tim) Bolton of Montoursville; a son, John E. Leisenring of Montoursville; two brothers, Donald (Adele) Leisenring of Woolrich and Edward C. (Jeanne) Leisenring of Williamsport; a sister, Raymonda (Ray) Cunningham of Kentucky, and three grandchildren, Tyler L. and Abigail E. Bolton, and Brianna M. Burkholder.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, June 22 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville with Rev. Michael S. McCormick as celebrant. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming Co.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, June 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
