John T. Flannery Jr., 96

John T. Flannery Jr., 96 of Montoursville, died February 19, 2019, at home.

Born May 4, 1922, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late John T. Flannery Sr. and Mary E. (Hennegan) Flannery.

John was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served our country in Germany during WWII from 1942 to 1946. After his time in the military he began working for Sylvania of Montoursville, where he worked for 32 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes of Montoursville. John was also a member of American Legion Post #104, Montoursville.

Surviving are his daughters: Maureen (David) Taylor, Mary Flannery, RoseMarie (Christopher) Dincher, Julia (Louis III) Mazzante, Catherine (Rexford) Hilton, Anne (Troy) Andersen, sons: Michael (Helen) Flannery, Thomas Flannery, Martin Flannery, Patrick (Nicole) Flannery, twenty-two grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Rose Marie (Fantaskey) Flannery, his son, John T. Flannery III, and his two sisters, MaryEllen (Madigan) of South Bend, Ind. and Kathryn Fidelis Flannery of the IHM of Scranton, PA, and three grandchildren, Daniel Taylor, Justin Hilton, and Michael Flannery

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to, K’s for Cancer, P.O. Box 103 Montoursville, PA 17754, or Kelly Mazzante Foundation, Susquehanna Bank, 950 Broad Street, Montoursville PA, 17754, or Konkle Memorial Library 384 Broad St. Montoursville, PA 17754.

In honor of John’s wishes, a private memorial will be held at a later date.
