On Friday, November 28, 2025, 1:11 a.m., John Mark Pfleegor of Gold Road, Muncy, (Turbotville) Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, to be with the Lord, following a five week courageous battle with aggressive kidney cancer. He was just 66.
John was born, January 22, 1959, in Danville Pa., (Liberty Twp) to Viola Kathryn and John Sholley Pfleegor. He was preceded in death by his son; Jeremy S. Pfleegor (2021), granddaughter, Katerina B. Wise (2000), and his father; John S. Pfleegor (2022).
John will be deeply missed, but lovingly remembered by his wife; Amy C. Pfleegor, daughters Joey B. Pfleegor and her forever companion Richard E. Gresh III; Shannon L. Reinard; Emily A., and her husband Alex A. Adams; a son Jason J. Pfleegor and his wife, Jacklyn M.; 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is also deeply missed by his mother Viola, sisters Ann Mull and her companion, Fritz Fisher; Gail and husband, Rich Moser; Julie and husband Jay Raup. A brother Mark Pfleegor and his wife Diana.
John spent his entire adult life dedicated to his family, friends, farming, and agriculture. He built his career as a hog producer, and had recently picked up the hobby of fishing for Walleye with friends and family, which he enjoyed immensely.
John achieved several accomplishments beginning early with being a “Champion Grower” (FFA) where he was awarded a trophy for growing medium to full-season hybrids (corn)(1969), Warrior Run High School Honor Grad & member of FFA (1977), Farmer of the Year, Northumberland County (2007), Lifelong Member of the Keystone Sportsmen Association, NRA, Whitetails Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Pheasants Forever.
The biggest hurdle in John’s life was losing his left arm, from elbow down, in a horrible auger accident (Turbotville, 1990), for which he was able to overcome with the love from his family and friends, and by never letting the accident slow-him-down, nor keep him from doing what he loved best: to farm.
He was committed to conservation and an advocate for soil and water stewardship. He also loved to hunt and enjoyed traveling. He was grateful to travel to Africa, a lifelong dream of his. Some of the other places he traveled included: Canada, Idaho, Colorado, California, Washington & Oregon, Florida, and the Bahamas.
His hobbies and work interests included: scrapping for discarded metal, farming his ground, growing crops of hay/alfalfa/wheat/rye/oats/beets/soybeans, buthering and tending to his herd of 30 cattle.
John also enjoyed volunteering to demostrate “butchering” from adult age to current, at Turbotville’s Annual Heritage Days held in October, as well as family picnics, watching old cowboy movies and hunting shows, reminiscing and telling stories about his childhood, and visiting with family and friends out in his garage, or driveway.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home and Cremation Svc., PC, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville.
Immediately following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10275 PA-44, Watsontown from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. All are welcome to write & read any eulogies at his Celebration of Life.

The family also wishes to send a special thank you to the NSICU East & West staff, Geisinger Hosp., Danville, PA for their care and compassion, during John’s final stay.
