John D. Stetts, 74, of Williamsport, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024 at home. Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy L. (Baier) Stetts.
Born Sept. 22, 1949 in Jersey Shore, he was a son of the late Richard S. and Maxine V. (Burchett) Stetts. John was a graduate of Montoursville High School. He formally owned and operated R.S. Stetts and Son, a commercial and industrial painting and sandblasting business that served the Williamsport area for many years. John’s sense of duty extended beyond his business ventures. He served his country with honor in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.
A man of deep faith, John was a devout parishioner at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. His devotion to prayer was evident in his daily attendance at Mass and his faithfulness to praying the Rosary. John’s faith was not only a personal comfort but also a source of inspiration to others as he served on the Building Committee at St. Lawrence and participated in Bible studies and the Parish Renew Prayer Group. John served the community with a sense of responsibility and care as the secretary at the Williamsport Water Authority, where his input and dedication were invaluable.
John’s interests and hobbies reflected his strong work ethic. He took great pride in lawn care and maintenance, often seen riding his cherished John Deere tractor, or tinkering with a Ford vehicle. John enjoyed homecooked meals including but not limited to fried chicken, prime ribs, or his favorite, peach pie. Above everything, his deep love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
