John A. Jennings, Sr., 76

John A. Jennings, Sr., 76 of Williamsport passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at UPMC Williamsport after a hard fought battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his entire family while listening to his favorite 50’s/60’s music. He transitioned through the Heavenly Gates as Amazing Grace on Bagpipes filled the room.

John and his wife, the former Linda Reynolds, joined their life and families together in 1988 and were married on November 29, 2002. They devotedly celebrated 35 years of life and love together. He was born on December 30, 1946 in Bucksport, Maine and was the son of Laughlin and Mary Barone Jennings.

John was a 1965 graduate of Jersey Shore High School where he excelled at football and basketball. He was a skilled welder at the former E. Keeler Company. John served his country honorably in the U.S Army in Germany during the Vietnam era. He was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was an active member of the community where he competitively bowled a perfect 300, played volleyball, passionately supported his nephews and nieces at their sporting events, and was a diehard Penn State and NY Rangers fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, John A. (Tara) Jennings, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO, Brian (Julie) Jennings of Pittsburgh, Robert (Jen) Lilley of Palm Bay, FL; a daughter, Kimberly (Lorenzo) Gould of Leonardtown, MD; three brothers Joseph Jennings of Williamsport, Laughlin Jennings, II of Williamsport; Martin Jennings of Loyalsock; two sisters, Jean Anne Soars of Loyalsock, Elvira Jennings of Williamsport; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Eternal thanks to his lifetime friend Ronald Larison and special friend Mike Schelb. He will be immensely missed by his loyal German Shepherd, Hans and ecstatically welcomed at the Rainbow Bridge by “Daddy’s Boy” Zeus.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in John’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38101 or online, or to Lycoming County SPCA, 2801 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701
