JoAnne P. Calhoun, 85, formerly of Woolrich passed away Monday, October 28, 2019 at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Born September 9, 1934 in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late Seymour and Dorothy Ashworth Lawton.
JoAnne was a 1953 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
On June 12, 1953 in Bloomsburg, she married W. James Calhoun with whom she shared 58 wonderful and loving years of marriage before his passing in 2011.
JoAnne was employed by the United States Postal Service as a clerk at the Woolrich Post Office until her retirement.
She attended Woolrich United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.
JoAnne enjoyed gardening and was a member of Dogwood Circle Gardening Club.
She was an avid reader and liked playing the piano.
JoAnne was a talented crafter and painter.
Before her husband’s passing, she loved their winter trips to New Smyrna Beach, Florida where they enjoyed visiting with their friends.
Most cherished, though, was the time she spent with her family.
Surviving is a son, Robert (Stephanie) Calhoun of Jersey Shore; three daughters: Debra Calhoun of Woolrich, Linda Calhoun (Carl Bathurst) of McElhattan and Amy (David) Rieck of South Carolina; a sister, Eileen (Donnie) Lewellyn of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: Shane Harter, Erin (Tim) Rossman, Ryan (Nicole) Monoski and Adam (Colleen) Monoski; her great grandchildren: Kamdyn Harter and James William, Sara and Greyson Monoski; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Maelee Krum and a great grandson, Jameson Monoski.
Her children would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of the second floor at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing for their exceptional care of their Mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 1 until 3 P.M. in the Community Room at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing, Lock Haven.
Private burial will take place at Woolrich Cemetery.
Her family will be providing flowers and ask that memorial contributions in JoAnne’s name may be made to either the Ross Library or the SPCA through the funeral home.
