Joan E. Williams (Boyles), 81, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 18, 2020.
Daughter of Max and Dorothy Boyles, she was born February 10, 1938. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, George L. Williams of South Williamsport, and by her six children: Mark (Christine) of Blanchard, Theresa Rupert (David) of Montoursville, Joseph (Brooke) of East Stroudsburg, Janet Stettler (Blaine) of Montoursville, Amy Carey (Skip) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Dawn Murafka (Michael) of Williamsport. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and is survived by her sister Ann Strosser, brothers Robert, David, Ronald, Dennis and Timothy, and was predeceased by her sister Susan Selleck.
“Joanie” to her friends and colleagues, she cared for patients for many years as an oncology registered nurse after being a floor nurse at Divine Providence Hospital. Joanie earned her RN designation at Sacred Heart Hospital in 1959. She enjoyed traveling with George and her family, cooking, reading, and walking. In Florida for several years, she had lots of fun with the ladies of the Red Hat Society. She was an active member of Saint Joseph the Worker Parish.
Friends will be received from 9:00-10:00 am on Thursday, January 23, at the Saint Joseph the Worker Parish Portico, followed by a memorial mass at 10:00 am with the Reverend Brian Van Fossen.
The family asks that contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org, or to the dementia unit at HCR Manor Care, Williamsport. Arrangements are by Spitler
